New York Jets fans have been quick to lay the blame of Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury on YouTube boxer Jake Paul, following the quarterback’s diagnosis of a torn Achilles.
Rodgers, a four-time league MVP who was traded to New York from the Green Bay Packers in April, sustained the long-term injury just minutes into his long-awaited Jets debut against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1’s edition of Monday Night Football.
The Jets ended up winning the game in overtime, but Rodgers was only on the field for four snaps after landing awkwardly on his left ankle following a tackle from Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd.
The 39-year-old was unable to get back onto his feet without help from the medical team and was seen limping once he was off the field. It has since been confirmed he will not play again this season.
Now, pre-game footage shows Paul sharing a greeting with the quarterback and fans are absolutely convinced the influencer foredoomed Rodgers in their exchange.

Rodgers then suffered a torn left Achilles only four plays into his New York Jets debut
‘Saw Aaron Rodgers dap up Jake Paul during warmups and I knew something was about to go wrong,’ one fan posted to X.
Another fan said: ‘Jake Paul touched Aaron Rodgers and now Aaron Rodgers is out for the season. If that doesn’t clearly say that Jake Paul is POISION idk what does.’
One fan even went as far as to say: ‘All I saw was Jake Paul, co-founder of Betr, suspiciously look at Rodgers Achilles when he walked away.’
‘All I’m saying is Aaron Rodgers was all good until he touched Jake Paul,’ tweeted another.
While speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Jets head coach Robert Saleh not only doubled down on the fact that Zach Wilson would be the starting QB but also sternly stated: ‘I don’t know why people are trying to put an obituary under our name.’
Multiple fans pointed to the greeting between the two stars as the prelude to the injury
Wilson had been the Jets starter for the last several years but was demoted to back up duty following an abysmal season that led to NY trading for Rodgers in the NFL’s story of the summer.
The plan for the 2021 No. 2 overall pick was to learn from Rodgers this season, however that plan quickly eroded when a sack from Bills DE Leonard Floyd quickly changed the course of Jets history.
There is a chance Wilson returns to his mentee role next season however, as Rodgers recently took to Instagram and vowed to ‘rise yet again.’
Rodgers words seemingly implied that he is planning to return next season once his Achilles has recovered rather than retire due to the injury.
