Meta has been adding several new features and making improvements to the existing features in order to uplift the overall user experience. While not all the changes are good and welcomed by users, but the instant messaging platform has managed to keep in sync with the changing landscape.
Now, last year, WhatsApp added support for emoji reactions for messages and status on Android. In the latest beta update, the messaging platform is improving this feature by adding avatar support to reactions.
WhatsApp is testing avatar reactions
WABetaInfo has reported that the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.18.9 now offers beta testers the option to send their avatars as emoji reactions. Of course, users are required to setup the avatar on WhatsApp first beta being able to send them as reaction os status posted by other users.
According to the report, users currently have up to eight avatar reaction option available. The same was the case with emoji reactions when it first launched on the platform. WhatsApp later updated the feature to allow users choose the emoji of their choice for the reactions. We exect, WhatsApp will offer simething similar with avatar reactions as well.
Rolling out in limited beta
Just like most of the first testing features, the avatar reactions is in beta and is available to select beta testers as of this moment. It is expected to rollout more widely in coming days. Also, note that not all the beta features will make the cut to the final build.
How avatar reaction works on WhatsApp
According to the screenshots posted, users will be able to switch to avatar reactions by tapping on the option next to the existing set of emoji reactions. Then, tap on the avatar to react just like it works with the emoji reactions.
While emoji reactions are interactive and more fun, the avatar reactions will bring more personalisation to the entire reactions.
