Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to flag off nine new Vande Bharat trains virtually on Sunday and one of them will run between Vijayawada and Chennai.
The eight-car rake will operate six days a week, except Tuesday, according to reports.
The train is expected to have stops at Renigunta, Nellore, Ongole, and Tenali while running between Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
According to officials, the train will depart from Chennai at 5.30 am and arrive in Vijayawada at 12.10 pm. From Vijayawada, the train will depart at 3.20 pm and arrive in Chennai around 10.00 pm.
It is the second inter-state Vande Bharat train for Tamil Nadu, the other one being Mysuru-Bengaluru-Chennai Vande Bharat express.
On Friday, the Southern Railway successfully carried out the trial run of the Vande Bharat Express train that will run between the Tirunelveli and the Chennai Egmore station, which will be launched by PM Modi on Sunday.
Also, the commercial operation of the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat train is set to start from September 25 (Monday). The semi-high-speed train connecting the two tech cities will reduce the travel time by around two hours. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat train virtually on Sunday.
The train which is scheduled to operate from Yeshwantpur in Bengaluru to Kacheguda in Hyderabad, is going to be Karnataka’s third Vande Bharat Express. At present, the state has two Vande Bharat trains plying between Dharwad-Bengaluru and Mysuru-Bengaluru-Chennai.
