No official announcements have been made, but speculation is rife among fans that Sam Kerr is now engaged to partner Kristie Mewis – and there’s evidence the question was popped on the Matildas captain’s 30th birthday.
Kerr and Mewis are the undisputed power couple of women’s football, with the pair amassing thousands of followers as their relationship has blossomed.
The loved-up pair celebrated Kerr’s 30th birthday earlier this month after returning from a whirlwind Women’s World Cup in Australia, where Kerr led the Matildas to the semi-final.
The American star posted a photo of Kerr’s birthday dinner, with the Aussie wrapping her arm around her girlfriend’s waist.
‘Happy Birthday my love,’ she captioned the post.

The couple posted plenty of pics like the one above featuring Mewis’s left hand before Kerr’s recent birthday
Intriguingly, Mewis’ left ring finger is obscured by a napkin in the photo.
Mewis headed back to the States to link up with her club side, Gotham FC, while Kerr went to London to begin pre-season training with Chelsea.
However, it appears that Kerr is in New York this week after sharing an image of a rainy skyline on Monday, before Gotham FC unintentionally opened a can of worms among fans on social media.
Mewis featured in a promotional clip for the new EA FC 24 video game, with a shiny piece of jewellery on her ring finger catching the eye of fans.
No official engagement announcements have been made by either Kerr or Mewis, but the ring has sent fans into a frenzy about the pair’s relationship status.
‘Not the ROCK,’ one fan posted online.
Another added: ‘Omg is Kristie wearing an engagement ring?’
‘WHATS THAT ON YOUR HAND KRISTIE??’ a third said.

The American star’s left hand has been obscured in photos since Kerr’s 30th
Mewis posted a photo to her Instagram story on Thursday, showing what looks to be her hand holding Kerr’s – once again parts of her hand are obscured
Mewis posted two photos of herself to Instagram earlier in the week – and in both shots her left hand was in her pocket.
The American star followed up with a post to her Instagram story on Thursday, showing what looks to be her hand holding Kerr’s.
Once again, most of the fingers on Mewis’s left hand cannot be seen in the photo – leading some to think she might be hiding a ring.
The couple met while they were both playing for competing clubs in the US league in 2019.
They spoke online for almost four months during the 2020 Covid lockdown before spending two weeks in quarantine together, where they quickly fell in love.
The pair continued their romance in the lead-up to the Olympics in 2021 where – following America’s defeat of Australia in the semi-finals – they were photographed together.
Their on-pitch embrace made headlines as Kerr’s break-up from her former longtime partner – another US club player Nikki Stanton – had not yet become public.
Their cross-global romance has since been heavily documented on social media with both women amassing hundreds of thousands of followers.
‘We’re not private people. I like sharing my story. I like sharing who I am outside of football. Football is 5 per cent of my life,’ Kerr told UK publication Gaffer earlier this year.
Last month the couple travelled to Sydney while Kerr played with the Matildas in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
In a twist, Kerr competed against Kristie’s ex-girlfriend Rachel Daly, who played for England in the semi-final.
